Questions, answered

Everything I get asked in messages, at consultations and at the door, all in one place. If yours isn't here, just ask. I'd always rather you asked than wondered, and it'll be me who replies.

First things first

Booking & your first visit

Send me an enquiry. Pick the treatment, tell me the days that suit you, and for brows or lips add a photo. I'll come back to you myself, usually within 24–48 hours (sometimes a little longer if I'm on a 12-hour shift at the clinic). If the treatment's right for you, I'll invite you in for your free consultation and patch test, and we'll agree your treatment date from there. I put it in the diary and email you a link to pay your deposit, which comes off the price. Lashes, tints, waxing and facials don't need any of that. Just tell me when suits and I'll book you straight in.

It's free, it's in the studio, and it's relaxed. We talk about what you're hoping for (bring inspiration pictures if you have them) and I'll be honest about what will and won't suit your face and your skin. I map the shape on so you can see it, and you have your patch test. Then we book your treatment date. I'd always rather meet you in person than do this over the phone, but if you're travelling from another city we'll work something out.

Yes. Every semi-permanent makeup treatment needs one, and I do it at your free consultation. Lash lifts and tints need a patch test at least 24–48 hours before your appointment, which takes two minutes if you pop in.

That's fine. Choose "Not sure yet" on the enquiry form and tell me what you're hoping for. A photo of where you are now and a picture of what you like is all I need to point you in the right direction.

Please check with me first. The studio is small and I like to keep it calm for you. Treatments are for over-18s only.

No, everything is booked in advance, so you get my full attention and the studio stays calm.

Brows are my passion

Microblading & nano brows

Microblading uses a small blade to place pigment as I freehand each hairstroke, which gives a really realistic hair effect. It's the treatment I'm asked for most. Nano brows use a tattoo pen with a very fine needle in a superficial layer of the skin, which creates really fluffy, refined brows: a soft, wispy effect, or simply filling gaps and keeping things undetectable. Nano is gentler on the skin. Both are beautiful when they're done well, and we'll decide together at your consultation.

It depends on the result you want and on your skin. If you have more sensitive skin, or a skin barrier that's been through a lot, nano brows are usually the kinder choice. If you want crisp, defined hairstrokes and your skin is happy, microblading is hard to beat. If you're unsure, that's exactly what the consultation is for.

Very. Have a look at the portfolio. Every brow is mapped to your face first using the golden ratio, and the strokes follow the way your own hair grows. I always start with a very natural colour; we can go a little darker at your top-up if we both feel it needs it. We can always add, but we can't take away.

Microblading takes two to two and a half hours. Nano brows take up to four hours, because the strokes are finer so there are more of them. Both include mapping, a full brief and your consent form, so there's no rush.

Microblading lasts around 12–18 months, sometimes up to 24. Nano brows last between 9 and 18 months depending on your skin type. Oilier skin, sun and active skincare all fade pigment faster, and I'll talk you through what to expect for your skin.

Everyone's different, and your comfort matters to me. We'll talk it through properly at your consultation so you know exactly what to expect on the day.

Yes. Microblading works whether you're filling gaps or building a brow from nothing. If you're about to start chemotherapy or radiotherapy and want your brows done beforehand, that's possible with a note from your specialist. Send me a message and we'll plan it around your dates.

Sometimes. The old pigment has to have faded by at least 90% before I can work on top of it, so send me a clear photo with your enquiry and I'll be honest with you. If I do work over someone else's brows I treat it as a whole new treatment, so it's the full price. I don't offer removal.

The lips

Lip blush

It gives your lips a natural boost of colour and brings out the definition of your own lip shape, which can make them look slightly fuller, without injectables. Fresh, it looks bold. It fades back by around 40% as it heals, leaving a very natural blush. Think your lips, just a little better, rather than lipstick.

Yes. Leave two weeks after filler before lip blush, and four weeks after lip blush before any more filler.

It doesn't rule you out, but I need to know. Lip treatments can trigger an outbreak if you've ever had one, so tell me on your health form and speak to your GP or pharmacist about antivirals before your appointment. We'll go through it properly at your consultation.

Allow three and a half to four hours. Results last around 9–12 months or more depending on your lip tissue and how you look after them, with your perfecting top-up 6–8 weeks after the first appointment.

If you have severe pigmentation on your lips it would need neutralising first, which I don't offer, so send me a photo and I'll tell you honestly. The general health list further down applies too.

The six weeks after

Healing, top-ups & aftercare

Yes, and that's normal. Fresh work always looks its boldest: darker, crisper and a touch swollen. Over the next few weeks the skin heals and the pigment softens and settles. Brows and lips can look lighter and patchier than you expect for a while before the colour comes back. The result you'll live with is the one you see after your top-up.

Six to eight weeks after your first appointment, and yes, it's included in the price for microblading, nano brows and lip blush. It's where I perfect the shape, add depth if we want it, and fix anything that healed unevenly. Please tell me anything you'd like tweaked before you leave that day.

For the first seven days: keep the area dry, no makeup or products on it, no workouts, sweating or saunas, and use the balm exactly as I show you (with the wipes I give you, no others). For lips, drink through a straw and expect peeling on days 2–4, and please don't pick. Then no sun, sunbeds, swimming pools or invasive skin treatments for two weeks (30 days for lips), and once healed, SPF every day. You'll get the full notes on paper at your consultation and by email before your appointment.

Yes. Balm and wipes for microblading and lip blush, and brow shields for the shower. Nano brows are usually healed dry, without balm, and I'll explain which applies to you at your consultation.

Usually from 12 months after your treatment, depending on your skin and how you've looked after it. Come in and I'll have a look. If it's faded a long way, it may need a fresh treatment rather than a boost, and I'll always tell you which before we book.

Tell me, ideally at your top-up, which is exactly the appointment for adjustments, but any time. Treatments aren't refundable, but if something isn't right I'll work with you to put it right.

Everything else

Lashes, brows & skin

Your own natural lashes, lifted from the root into a curled shape and tinted, so you get a mascara effect with no mascara. It lasts four to eight weeks depending on your lash cycle, takes an hour, and works best on medium to long lashes. If yours are very short, send me a photo and I'll tell you what to expect. Patch test 24–48 hours before.

From two days after, if you want to. Most people find they don't need it. No contact lenses on the day of any eye treatment, please, and come with clean, mascara-free lashes.

Wispy, lightweight lash extensions matched to your eye shape. Allow two hours, and keep them clean with the lash shampoo I recommend in the studio. No mascara on extensions.

Every four to eight weeks depending on how fast your hair grows and how oily your skin is. The tint stains the skin as well as the hair, so it fills gaps and gives you shape for weeks. Around 35 minutes. I don't offer lamination.

A deep clean for congested, dull or tired skin: it exfoliates, clears blackheads and blocked pores, then hydrates and plumps, with radio frequency and ultrasonic to tighten pores and stimulate collagen over time. Each session clears around 30–40% of congestion, so a course of three to six, every three to six weeks, gives the best results. No downtime, so you can go straight back to your day. Not for very sensitive skin or heavy active breakouts. Avoid retinol and strong acids for five days beforehand.

Being honest

Health & suitability

I can't treat you if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, have keloid scarring, have had cancer in the last five years (or are being treated now without a specialist's sign-off), are on blood thinners without your doctor's agreement, have an autoimmune condition treated with immunosuppressants, have unmanaged diabetes, or have taken Roaccutane in the last six months. Sunburnt or peeling skin needs two weeks to settle first. If you're not sure where you stand, tell me everything on the health form and I'll tell you honestly.

Yes, as long as it's well managed. Healing is what matters, so tell me on the form and we'll talk it through.

Usually fine as long as there's no flare-up on the area we're treating. Nano brows are often the kinder option for a sensitive skin barrier. Keloid scarring, unfortunately, isn't suitable.

Stop retinol, acids (AHAs/BHAs), topical steroid and acne creams on the area one to two weeks before. Please don't stop any prescribed medication without your GP's say-so. If you take blood thinners, tell me and we'll look at it together. Roaccutane needs a six-month gap.

Two weeks either side for brows. For lips, two weeks after filler before lip blush and four weeks after lip blush before filler.

Over-18s only, for every treatment.

The practical bits

The studio, paying & policies

A private studio in Bradley Stoke, Bristol (BS32), easy from the M4 and M5, with parking on the property and on the street. I send the full address with your booking confirmation. More in Your visit.

Permanent makeup is confirmed with a deposit paid online, which comes off your price; the balance is paid on the day by cash, bank transfer or card. Klarna is available at checkout. Lashes, tints, waxing and facials are simply paid on the day.

I ask for 48 hours' notice to cancel or move an appointment. Less than that and your deposit is lost, because at short notice I can't refill the slot. If you cancel on the day, or don't arrive, I still need payment: the full price for lash, brow and skin treatments, and 50% for semi-permanent makeup, with your deposit counting towards it. There's a 15-minute grace period on the day. Later than that and I may not be able to fit you in, which would mean losing your deposit and rebooking. If you're unwell, please let me know as early as you can.

Yes. Every paid appointment earns a stamp; six stamps and you get 20% off your next lash, wax, tint or skin appointment (not semi-permanent makeup). And if you refer a friend for semi-permanent makeup and they go ahead, there's a free lash lift & tint for you, with no limit on how many friends.

Yes. Message me with the treatment or amount you'd like and I'll sort it for you.

Fully qualified and licensed. I hold Level 2, 3 and 4 beauty qualifications plus a diploma, and I'm trained in microblading, nano brows, lip blush, lash lifts and tints, brow waxing and Hydrofacial. I've spent over six years in the industry, including five at Therapié Clinic working alongside doctors and nurses, and I've trained under multiple SPMU artists across the country. I use PhiBrows equipment and pigments for microblading, and a tattoo pen with Hannafy or World Famous pigments for nano brows and lips.
